Our Editorial Process

We like to have fun here at Joy in the Home, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t serious about getting our facts straight. This site’s mission is to advocate for a journey of understanding and growth, empowering parents with the knowledge and tools necessary to support their children’s unique paths.

We also know we can’t achieve this vision by cutting corners in regard to editorial practices. Therefore, we’ve made a promise to our readers.

Our Commitment to Fact-Driven Content

Full disclosure…we use AI here. The productivity is unreal, and we love it for that reason.

We didn’t always use it. In fact, when this site started in 2016, only a mom named Dollie created a ton of great content on her own. Many talented people have since contributed their own insight and expertise through handwritten, original articles for parents.

Unfortunately, a lot has changed since then. You niche site owners are probably very familiar with the rise of machine-generated content and the recent Google algorithm changes of biblical proportion that wiped out many worthwhile small publishers.

The status quo changed. Expectations for publishers rose sky-high, as did the content volume required for any site to do well. We’re a small team, and we knew we needed to adapt to the new digital landscape if we wanted to remain relevant.

Our new system is pretty incredible. We plan the content ourselves based on your response to our work. We utilize a healthy blend of industry expert interviews, peer-reviewed journals, and our team’s personal/professional experiences in our respective fields to continue creating articles that have helped countless new parents find their way again.

We use AI tools only to generate first drafts, which our human staff then crafts into award-winning, expert-backed articles. This blend of human insight and efficiency is our secret sauce.

We routinely revisit our content, ensuring it remains in sync with evolving research and guidelines.
