Toys. We can't live without them. Over the 20 plus years of my parenting experience, I have learned that toys become treasures in your family if you do it right and choice the right ones. Since my older children were little, there are other toys on the market that would fall into the same treasured toys category but for different reasons.
10 Toys That Become Treasures in Your Family
Most families understand what a treasure Legos can be to their family. Our children have spent hundreds of hours building and still do. Building things from kits, castles, forts, and even rifles.
Our boys love to reenact some of their favorite stories from audios with their Lego people and will work hard to build the background to their story before playing it all out.
I have had them build Columbus' three ships, the Alamo and many other things from our history lessons, to bring Legos into our homeschooling.
Collectable items, like American Girl dolls, are another way to give hours of fun to your children and give them something special to pass down to their own children. We bought Kristen for our daughter many years ago, along with the matching books and she still has them today, even though she has been asked if she will sell it. She looks forward to passing it to her own children one day.
She has many other things that she earned when American Girls first came out that has been tucked away as treasures as well.
These Picasso Magnetic Tiles are newer to the market and provide hours of funs. The imagination is the only limitation to the kinds of creations these colorful, magnetic tiles can become.
These can easily become one of the favorite things for your family to do together and a toy that become treasures in your family.
Learning Resources Gears! Gears! Gears! has to be right up there with Legos!
My oldest son would have loved to have these when he was little, since his mind was very much involved with how things work. My youngest is very much like him, so I know that this will give him hours of entertainment and creativity. This is one toy that his daddy would love to spend some of the evening hours playing with him, building memories together.
Our children have used blocks to build structures for their creative play, including train tracks, the Alamo, forts, but these magnetic blocks would be allowing so much more in their ability to create.
As I just mentioned, train play has been a part of our family since my oldest children were really little. My oldest son knew all the names of the Thomas Tank Engine friends. We have been so shocked by his ability to build complex tracks for hours of fun.
My children have always loved building Lincoln Logs.
With our love of early American history, these logs have been something that my children have played with for years. Definitely something that all my children have cherished over the years.
